Reading the recent Forbes article about the ten fastest dying cities led us to think about Mark Twain, less about the man and more about one of his quotes: "The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated." In the case of Springfield, Massachusetts and inclusion by Forbes of the city in its deathwatch, we would argue the Forbes not only exaggerated but also misread the vital signs. Springfield Workforce Development Plan Launched

New schools superintendent announces entry plan

July 1, 2008 – New Springfield Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Alan Ingram today announced his action plan in a document that places a premium on early listening and learning.

The “Superintendent’s Plan of Entry” was today posted on the school district’s website at www.sps.springfield.ma.us. Ingram said he wanted community members to see and understand immediately what he will do to earn the public’s trust and work with the School Committee, teachers and administrators to lead progress. Inspectional Services Report Released

The Matrix Consulting Group was retained by the Springfield Financial Control Board to conduct an Organizational Review of Inspectional Services.  The scope of this study included the Building Department, Health Department, Housing Department and Fire Department.
