As of September 1, 2006, the price for bulk pickup was reduced to $8.00 per item. The charge for extra bags of trash remains at $2.00 per bag.

“Bulk Items” - $8.00 Sticker per each item

One (1) sticker is required for each bulk item. Examples of Bulk Items are refrigerators, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, chairs, tables, cribs, couches, bed frames, sofas, fans, filing cabinets, TV’s, plumbing fixtures, doors, windows, bicycles, barbecue grills, mattress, box spring, large toys, tires, lawn mowers, snow blowers, stoves, washers, dryers, rugs, etc.
Items for bulk pick up will be collected by advance phone request only. Please call 787-6260 for an appointment.

“Extra Bag” of Trash - $2.00 Sticker for each bag

Any extra trash placed outside of your trash cart must be in a plastic trash bag no larger than 32 gallons and labeled with one (1) “Bag” sticker. It will be collected on your regular refuse collection day. There is no need call the DPW. There is a limit of 10 extra bags on any given collection day. Per City Ordinance, trash cart must be closed, when placed out for collection. Trash is not allowed to be stacked in carts with the lid open.

Where can I purchase Bulk and Extra Bag stickers?

  • All Big Y supermarkets in Springfield, also the East Longmeadow, Ludlow, Longmeadow and West Springfield stores.
  • City Hall - Collectors Office/Clerks Office – 36 Court Street
  • Department of Public Works – 70 Tapley Street

Please specify the number of Bulk and/or Extra Bag stickers requested and provide a telephone number and return address. Payment may be made by check or money order. No cash or charging.
